Gilbert Dolman Jr., 68, died Monday, May 6, 1996, after a long illness. He was the son of Evelyn (Sylvia) Dolman of Johnston, R.I., and the late Gilbert Dolman. Born and raised in East Providence, he lived in New Bedford for many years. He was a self-employed scrimshaw artist who had crafted many custom design scrimshaw pieces for Albion B. Stone Jewelers in New Bedford. A World War II Navy veteran, he served in the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre, China, the Philippines, and in Occupied Japan. He later served in the Korean War. He served a total of 13 years in the Navy until his retirement in 1958
